Hi - just a quick note to let you know how much I'm continuing to get a HUGE amount of pleasure outta this JT live series & this site in general! Let other people have their Advent Calendars, I'm more than happy to open up my browser each day & see what kind of junked-out raw-rock gift is sitting in the window. Hope you're not spending too much time thinking about the occasional haters cryin' about how the post or the media isn't organized or assembled to their standards. Dipping into the world of JT boots is the quintessential act of R'n'R acceptance, as you get what you get and that's all you get - any enjoyment or frustration is of your own making!
Sidebar: JT sure seems to have spent a ton of time onstage at Gildersleeves, amirite? I landed in NYC waaay too late to join in any of that scene's antics, but a quick Googling gave me this interesting recap of what went down there way back when: http://streetsyoucrossed.blogspot.com/2005/08/other-rock-club-on-bowery.html
The comments on that Gildersleeves page are almost as interesting as the actual post; I always get a kick out of commenters that are clearly trying to re-arrange their place in the past, and there's one or two of those standouts on that particular page. Its tough enough managing my ego in the here and now - imagine having to pump it up 4 decades ago as well?!? Anyway: place sounds like the kind of lovable, dumpy jock-joint-desperately-turned-to-live-music kind of place that we've all probably spent a few (dozen) nights in. And a fitting place to see JT, who never seemed comfortable fitting in anywhere, did he?
Two last things before I wrap up this "quick note"....one: can you post an ePub or PDF of the new Jerry Nolan bio? And two: keep up the good work! I'm always impressed by the volume and overall quality of your media, not to mention the attention you give to easing the experience for end-users like me. Fly on, Jet Boy!
HeySuchAndSuch, Cheers for the comment/quick note! Much appreciated! Youre on the money with the ups and downs of JT boots being a "quintessential act of R'n'R acceptance" (liked that one!). When I was collecting all that stuff it was a pure obsession and as a completest at heart, getting my hands on half a dodgy sound Thunders show was pure gold! A lot of the shows I got from the people who recorded them and I was only ever happy to get them. At that stage it was all done by snail mail for me and was probably the proto punk equivalent of stamp collecting :) Theres a lot of massaging peoples ego`s went on and I thought that by setting up this blog, I could save some people from having to pucker up so often to get their hands on some decent JT/Dolls stuff. So I`m glad the experience is an easy one. Great article about Gilderlseeves! The comments were well worth the read too. Cheers for the message, and keep on rocking! LAMF! Alabaster Jones!
Please, re-up this same wave files. the rar archive is very strange, I think is corrupted also dont show any message. 23 tracks with size 65 mb. and not all tracks playing. I know you want to hear the compliments but they are obvious. Much thanks.
Hey There! I`ll take a look at it and re upload. Its likely that the files are fine. Years ago I did some trades with a guy who had some problems converting his tapes to digital. some of the discs that I got came in 20 plus files, some of which were half songs followed by the other half etc. But, when you play/burn all the tracks onto a disc, they play fine despite the quantity of tracks. I`ll look into fixing these onto one track for handiness. Cheers for the comment. Thanks

Alabaster Jones!
Ps, I`ll check to see if I have an ebook version of the Jerry Nolan book. I have an odd notion that I may, and if so, I`ll upload it for!
DeleteGreat blog! Can you re-upload this as MP3s? Thank you
